Recipient code (codice destinatario)

The recipient code (codice destinatario) is the code that tells the SDI, Italy's e-invoicing exchange system, which channel to deliver an electronic invoice to. For companies and professionals it has 7 characters and identifies the electronic channel, for example the software or the intermediary, through which the client receives invoices. For the public administration the unique office code (codice univoco ufficio), 6 characters long, is used instead. If the client receives invoices by PEC (Italian certified email), or is a private individual without a code, you enter 0000000.

In YVY

Recipient code and PEC are on the contact's record, and your company's code is in Settings › General. When you prepare an e-invoice, YVY checks the format and, if a piece of data is missing, lists it before sending, instead of letting you find out about the rejection afterwards. The VAT number lookup fills in company name, address, PEC and recipient code when the business register has them; if they are missing, you enter them by hand.
